Nail Trimming
When first attempting to trim your sugar glider's nails, just do one foot at a time. That way you don't get too nervous. When you are nervous, they sense it and they get nervous too. So go for the small victories. Do one paw a day until their done. Before you know it, you'll be doing it like a pro!
Sugar gliders do pull when you're trying to trim their nails. If they can pull their foot out of your grasp, you're not holding tight enough. If they twist, then let go and try again.
The worse thing would be cutting too close and causing them to bleed. That doesn't usually hurt them. I think it bothers us more than them.
Something else you can try for in between trims is getting the trimmer for their wheel. This is just pieces of 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper with 4 nylon nuts & bolts. Below is a video of how to install them onto the mesh wheels:
There is a newer product made by SpinZone for the treadmills. I tested this product and it worked wonderful. TBH, I didn't trim nails in the "test cage" for a year! Not sure everyone would have that type of experience, but it worked for me. (just do not put it in the washing machine; it will ruin it).
